In previous exercises, we have been working with the subtle body. But what is it? Previously it was mentioned that it is neither reality nor imagination.
Manipulating our subtle body, sensing a subtle body, and seeing it, is actually a subconscious process that uses memories to construct mental projections that our conscious mind can interact with.
Think about it, our subconscious mind is constantly processing a ton of information. This feat is impossible for our conscious mind. So instead, our subconscious mind creates a user interface, with which we can interact.
But that’s not all, other people respond to you manipulating that part of yourself. In theatre, for example, an actor is being taught to increase their mental selves to the size of the entire auditorium in order to be more captivating. A fare evader is not as noticeable if they shrink themselves in their subtle body. So in a way, it is reality, but it is not physical reality, and it cannot be measured with any known device (some would say that Kirlian Photography is a way to capture this information, but it is not quite that).
Being able to see aura can be explained and demystified by understanding this projective mechanism
Most people have this skill highly developed during ages 2-3 but then it begins to simply be disregarded because people around us disregard it.
The Method
it is best to practice it at dusk or dawn, with an even background light or dark (aura will appear light on a dark background and dark on a light one) Best places to see it are around your fingertips and above your head.
You need to look at your hands or your head in a relaxed way, without focusing on anything in particular, as if you are looking through it.
Raise your hands in front of you and touch your (physical) index fingers together. Now begin pulling your hands apart, while keeping the sensation of your fingers touching in your mind. Note a slight trace that can be observed between the fingers. Move one of your hands up and down. Note how the trace follows the movement of your hand.
Once you see the trace clearly, make a ball. Notice that the tingling sensation is complemented by what appears to be little discharges of energy coming from your fingertips.
Now try looking at your head in the mirror. Remember to pick an even background and do it during the sunrise/sunset, as the lighting is the best for that job. Try to repeat the exercise where we change the size of our subtle body while looking at your aura, see if there is any correlation.
Try to see other peoples’ aura. Especially pay attention above the head, especially when people are emotionally engaged or consumed by something. Try to compare the density and uniformity of the aura among different people.
Do not get discouraged if it doesn’t work at first. Some people are better at seeing aura, some at sensing the subtle body with hands. It could take months of practice before you can see it comfortably. Seeing aura isn’t essential for further steps, but will be a great skill if cultivated.
