There are a few things to look out for when inspecting our subtle body, especially during or after an unpleasant encounter with someone.
Energy Vampirism
People can drain our energy. We all have a relative or a person we know, after a conversation with whom, even about something trivial, we feel like we just plowed a field - physically and emotionally drained. Usually they are in a bad mood, and as the conversation progresses, they begin to drag you down with them, as if that is the main goal. I am sure we all had the pleasure of being an energy donor for people like that at least once in our lives, just as we happen to, willingly or not, draw strength from others from time to time. There is a term for it: energy vampirism.
A mild form of it is present in most relationships and we all have moments when we draw strength from people close to us in times of weakness, just as they draw from us. Nothing wrong with that, sometimes we all just need love, support and understanding through thick and thin. However, when this exchange becomes constant and one-sided, we get a big problem. A person among us could go through this torture every day and we wouldn’t even know it. Energy draining leaves no bruises or scars, just weakness, in the long run for both the donor and the taker. We all know how hard it is to repel attacks from people like that (if we cannot avoid those attackers altogether). We also know how hard it is, once attacked to resist falling under this ripple effect and as a result begin draining the strength from the loved ones around us (the victim becomes the abuser).
The effects of vampirism can often be recognized when you find yourself replaying a scenario involving another person or group over and over in your mind. With every playback, you ‘pump yourself up’ emotionally, becoming less and less composed. This cycle is often fueled by someone deliberately provoking you, pushing you further out of equilibrium. Eventually, this emotional buildup can lead to an impulsive outburst or action, which is exactly what was so desperately needed by the attacker. Such reactions rarely serve your best interests and often leave you feeling regretful or manipulated.
The main difficulty comes from the following: By the time we acknowledge that there was an attack, the damage has already been done. We have less energy to work with, we do not perceive the world in the same way as we did before the interaction with that person. We are off-balance, and chances are, the next thing we do will actually increase this drain dramatically, for every new thought is a result of this distorted interaction. We try to solve the problem on a psychological level which is purely incidental (Oh no, Jane’s mother-in-law does not like Jane’s cooking! How can Jane improve?) when in fact its cause is on the energy level (Jane’s mother-in-law has a very self-conflicting personality which makes her always tired and causes her to steal life force off anyone in sight). So you see, psychology here is helpless, even in damage control mode. How do we prevent an attack in its inception before it has a chance to mutate our consciousness? We have to learn to sense the effect of this energy transfusion as it just starts to happen and repel the attack on that level, before destructive effects manifest in our thoughts.
I hope that you have attempted to sense your up and downflow outlined in the previous topic. If you can sense both flows well, covering an entire area from below your navel (the lower the better) all the way to the top of your head (the higher the better) then congrats! However, know that this may not always be the case for you, and is rare for most people. A lot of people, when they just start learning the flows, would only sense them partially. An upflow could stop abruptly (usually people can feel a ‘ceiling’ around the solar plexus area), and a downflow could stop around the abdomen. This might mean that someone or something is draining your energy. Read on to see what we are going to do about it.
Let’s simulate an attack by someone resulting in a ‘blockage’ feeling that I’ve just described: Focus on the upflow first. As you inhale, focus on the upflow starting somewhere below your navel and let your point of focus travel up along the flow until you reach the solar plexus area. At this point hold your breath. You will notice that the flow stops and begins to ‘seep’ out. Remember this feeling. If you ever sense this while breathing normally, you are being emotionally drained by someone or something. To negate this effect visualize an upward arrow at this location of blockage/dissipation, and use this arrow visualization to ‘punch through’ this ceiling restoring the natural upflow going high above.
OK, Jedi time! If in the presence of the attacker, during the attack, visualize a ‘rubber band’ coming from that person’s pelvic region that is attached to your solar plexus, draining your upflow. Visualize disconnecting this band and reattaching it to their forehead creating an arch that starts from their pelvis. Remember, visualize your actions from a first-person view (doing it through your eyes). Try your best to actually ‘sense’ what you are doing. You can use subtle hands to help yourself disconnect that band from yourself. Then, once disconnected, focus on your upflow, ensuring that it is nice and strong and flows all the way through, without any disruptions or branch-offs. If done right, a vampire will instantly be disoriented and begin to be distracted and preoccupied with other things. How cool is that?
Keep in mind that just like the upflow, your downflow can get stolen as well. The effects of compromised upflow is you expressing unwanted emotions, while compromised downflow results in thoughts and motives that do not belong to you. The critical point to focus on for the downflow is located just above the navel, the energy loss is usually felt along with the ‘butterflies in the stomach’ feeling.
Do a similar exercise. While exhaling, focus on the downflow and move your point of focus down from the top of your head all the way to the point about two inches above the navel. As your point of focus reaches that spot, stop it there and hold your breath in the middle of an exhale. Remember that feeling of energy dissipation as you stop breathing. If this feeling ever happens while you are breathing normally, something is clouding your thinking. If that ever happens, imagine a down arrow at that location and strengthen the downflow, ensuring that it travels from way above, all the way down into the ground, breaking the perceived barrier. Cut off any foreign ‘rubber bands’ that can be sensed, attaching them back where they came from.
Next time you find yourself in the company of a person who is just dying for you to be in a bad mood, rejoice! You are provided with an opportunity to test out what you’ve learned. Do not be angered by those people. Although it may seem like their harm to you is intentional, their mental state is akin to a person getting sucked into the swamp and desperately trying to grab onto something, anything! There are two common methods that they ‘practice’ to get what they want. First, they will attempt to scare you into compliance(use aggression), when that fails they will attempt to make you pity them(elicit compassion). The goal is always the same: to provoke a response from you that will make it a bit harder for you to maintain your current level of composure, while the vampire will feel better in comparison. If the fate of those people is important to you, it is possible to help those people understand the true nature of their angst. In future, you will learn that it is very easy to control the behavior of energy vampires by conditioning them through energy ‘dosing’, since they are completely dependent on your energy during your interaction with them. This allows you to steer the conversation by using energy as ‘treats’ for positive reinforcement. Just do not fall into the pity trap, or it’s back to square one.
Void
This pathology is the least damaging and is perceived as a void in your subtle body. This is usually a result of a person who is unpleasant to you making a comment about something that you would find close to heart (think of that expression). The comment isn’t necessary, it could be as simple as giving you ‘the look’. Some cultures refer to this phenomenon as ‘the evil eye’ and commonly associate it with jealousy. The void is commonly observed around the chest and stomach areas. You do not need to care about who where why, just get rid of it. To do so, simply focus on the flows filling the void. Ensure that you end the exercise by returning to your base state and ensure that your whole subtle body here and now feels like in that state. The last step is applicable to all exercises in this section.
Hex
Open aggression can obviously cause all sorts of problems, especially among people who are sensitive to those encounters. But even those who think that they have grown ‘elephant skin’ that protects them from this aggression will be amazed at what can be found if looking carefully. Unlike the first ‘void’ example that feels like a hole in your body, this particular attack feels like a form of growth, which like a virus, would use you as a source of energy. Not all acts of aggression would lead to this, but when they do, this type of pathology can be really draining. To remove it, use your subtle hands and start ‘raking’ around the affected area as if you are breaking up the soil so that it is easier to remove the weeds with all the roots. The feeling will be very similar, and in the end, even more pleasant.
As the ‘soil’ around the affected area gets soft and mushy enough, use your subtle hands to pull the ‘growth’ out. As it comes out, it is best to ‘move’ it onto running water or an open flame. If those are not available at the moment, use an object that is moving away from you, or that you are moving away from. The object that you are attaching to can be real (easier for beginners) or imagined (more convenient for people with experience). Ensure that the sensation from the ‘growth’ is fully gone, repeat the exercise multiple times if necessary. Once it’s all gone, begin to fill the void with your flows while being in your base state.
By the way, you can also remove physical pain by using the same technique. Although you may notice that headaches are tough to remove using this method the rest of the body should be rather simple. Imagine that the pain, once connected to an object that is moving away, begins to ‘unwind’ like a ribbon or a thread, slowly leaving your senses.
To summarize this chapter
- Break through the blockages.
- If an unpleasant connection is felt, sever it and redirect it back to the sender.
- If a void is found, fill it in.
- Remove the growth + fill in the void that is left.
- Prevent further mutation of consciousness by returning to the base state and ensure that it resonates with the whole subtle body (the subtle body feels the same in the base state as it does here and now).
As with other techniques, after a few tries your body gets used to this new way of dealing with this energy exchange. As with other techniques, simply knowing them will give you nothing, but practicing them will give you more than you can imagine.
In the next chapter you will learn how to create a permanent protection for your mind.
