Let’s try to sense the whole subtle body. As you are sitting down in your physical body, try standing up in your subtle. Try to move away from your physical body. Then, try to take up the whole room. We do something similar when we drive, we increase our size to the size of the car. If the car gets close to a wall, we can feel the pressure in our shoulder area. If you do not want to be noticed, try to shrink the subtle body. If you want to be more impactful, try to increase it.
As an exercise, try to increase your size to the whole room when you are in a public place with doors opening and closing frequently. With your eyes closed, note how the environment feels when the doors are open and when the doors are closed. Test yourself by closing your eyes, and opening them when you can sense the change in the environment. If everything is done correctly, you will open your eyes just as the doors open.
When practicing energy work, a common challenge is knowing whether a signal is real or imagined. For example, we would face this challenge when tasked with finding a piece of paper on a table using our subtle hands. This difficulty, sometimes called the ‘Inner Critic’, arises because our mind creates an opposing signal to what we perceive, filtering out distractions.
For example, if you look at a table and ask yourself if anything is on it, you compare what you see with the image of an empty table.
In energy practices, both the real signal and the opposing verification come from the same source, but the verification signal is often stronger. To identify the real one, focus on the first signal; anything that follows is likely imagined and should be ignored.
